All the years I've been reading the bible, it has = been really hard for me to memorize bible verses. After reading your = start page, it has appeared to me that I to am the same as far as = getting motivated. I love the Lord, I really do love Him, and I want to = share my knowledge with other people who don't know Him like I do. I = don't always have my bible with me when I am witnessing to a friend, and = if I can just remember key verses from the scriptures, it would help me = a lot in doing the work of the Lord. I would like to subscribe to your = program if you will have me. God bless you and your staff and I am = waiting to hear from you soon. =============================================================================== Sent: Thursday, December 20, 2001 5:20 PM Subject: Mind maps From: Terry Vogelaar One of the techniques I (am starting to) use for bible memorisation is the use of mind maps. Mind maps are discovered by the British memory teacher Tony Buzan. There is plenty of information to be found on the internet, including several mind map creation programs. A good starting point is http://www.mind-map.com/ to learn about them. Mind maps can be useful in bible memorisation. Because when you see the structure, you begin to understand the sequence of the bible verses. In other words: when you understand WHY a verse is in chapter 4 of a book, it is much easier to learn. Making a mind map of a bible book is difficult because the structure of the text is often not easy to discover. A study bible like the NIV study bible is very helpful. However, the structure is often very global. The Companion bible has a structure for every chapter and every verse fits somewhere. But not every structure of the Companion bible is useful to base a mind map on. The best way is to discover for yourself what the structure of a bible book is. Maybe it is a good idea to exchange structures of bible books through the list? One of the most important things of mind maps is to use as many pictures as possible. But of course these pictures have to make sense. Try to be creative in this. Example: for the book of Ecclesiastes I use a soap-bubble as the central picture. I'am currently working on memorizing "faith" focused scriptures in effort to assist some in the ministry and those who don't know God. My assignment for the next two weeks is Hebrews, Chapter 11---my concentration today would be Heb 11:6. Again, I wish you all blessings, wisdom and stronger roots in Christ for the New Year ! My name is Sonja and I and my family live in Iowa. I have been a Christian since I was 20...about 20 years ago (!) I love Him and know that His Word is a lamp and a light and therefore want to hide more of it (Him) in my heart. We homeschool and we are reformed presbyterians. The system I am currently using for memorization can be found here: http://www.nonprofitpages.com/elm/bmg.htm It's great to find others who are interested in doing this. I don't have any "commuting" time and so don't have large blocks to devote to learning whole chapters, but we'll see! The Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you and keep you from evil (2Thess 3:3) Hope you are doing well Sonja =============================================================================== Sent: Monday, December 31, 2001 10:14 AM Subject: Re: Mind maps From: Le'Nieese Bennett I have discovered a way that works for me............I pray and ask the = Lord before i read anything...First to open my understanding......How it = applies to me.......especially before i go to bed because it sets in your = mind and memory as the last thing you read before you go to sleep.....so = you are thinking about it while sleep.. you know how you watch a movie before you go to bed or half way sleep and = you wonder why you end up dreaming certain things because you are taking = in what you hear.......Faith cometh by hearing.......You do not neccessaril= y have to see.....For we walk by Faith and not by sight.......What you = hear affects how you brain......major sense.........sleep with something = pertaining to the word....videos of someone preaching...cassettes....=20 >>> terrydiscovery.nl 12/20/01 05:20PM >>> One of the techniques I (am starting to) use for bible memorisation is the use of mind maps.
