Sorry to be so tardy with this. Most of us are sick here (just viruses), and it fell off my To Do list. Undoubtedly there are lots of good scriptures I didn't think of... feel free to post them! Blessings, Vicki Schellhase Salvation Scriptures (KJV) Our hearts deceive us: Jer. 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? None righteous Rom. 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one. Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God. Sin's payment vs. God's gift Rom. 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Believe in the son, everlasting life John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. Christ died for sinners Rom.5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Is. 53:5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. 6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. Call on His name. Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. We must decide to allow Christ entrance. Rev. 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. Salvation requires verbal confession of faith. Romans 10:8 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; 9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Matt. 10:32-33 Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven. Heaven rejoices when the sinner repents. Luke 15:10 Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth. Salvation a free gift. Eph. 2:8, 9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. Receive Christ, become God's son. John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: True conversion results in obedience. 1 John 2:3-5 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. 4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 5 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him. The one who truly loves, obeys. John 14: 23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. Matt. 7:21-23 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. Ps. 66:18 If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me. God disciplines those He loves. Rev. 3:19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent. Futility of worldly success without Christ Mark 8:36 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Following Christ brings rest to our souls. Matt. 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. vs29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. vs30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. Sanctification is God's work. Jude 24 Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, 25 To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and for ever. Amen. > DATE: Thu, 03 Feb 2000 08:56:43 -0500 > FROM: Runflikrunaol.com > SUBJECT: Re: Salvation scriptures > ~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~ > > Can these be posted somewhere? > =============================================================================== Date: Wed, 09 Feb 2000 08:38:56 -0500 Subject: Re: Salvation scriptures From: "Robin Witcher" Hi to all. Thank God for this ministry. I am a pastor for 36 years. Early I memorized 1 and 2 Peter. Off and on I would memorize other passages. Even though it always blessed me and gave me power, it is difficult to stay faithful to it. Some suggestions to help: Write out the passage phrase by phrase and at the end of the phrases write the first letter of each word. Then after a little memory work you can use the letters at the end of each Scripture phrase to prompt you to remember it. Another help is to take a tape recorder and record phrase by phrase a given passage. At first leave a space [about the amount of time you will need to quote the phrase ] and then read the correct phrase into the microphone. Then you allow some seconds to go by [while tapeing] and then read the next phrase onto the tape. Continue this until the passage is completed. This provides a "partner" to help you quote the passage, phrase by phrase. Some of our brothers and sisters here in this group are gifted with wonderful memories. Some of us aren't but God will bless every effort you make with a pure motive of knowing and serving Him more or better. The few scriptures I know serve me greatly. Some times I feel like I am spending more time and effort reviewing them than learning more. However, God has reminded me of His words of comfort, hope and love when I needed them most. If I hadn't tried to memorize those verses I am afraid it would be, at least, more difficult for Him to remind me of the hope I have in Christ Jesus. Let's pray for each other, ok? May God's perfect and best will be realized in your life! isabel tobias philippines ................... randy dupont wrote: I am moved by your heart sister. Please take courage in the idea that as long as you are breathing this air you can do anything through Him, with Him and because of Him. (Php. 4:13) Just keep plugging away, no matter how small the progress seems. All progress is good, even a sentence each week or month is more than you knew before. I'm sorry for the length of this "note" but just don't give up, ever! Purdy" The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul; the decrees of the LORD are sure, making wise the simple; the precepts of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the LORD is clear, enlightening the eyes; the fear of the LORD is pure, enduring forever; the ordinances of the LORD are true and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb. Psalm 19:7-10 O God, make me aware of the exact nature of my sins and give me the courage to acknowledge them both to myself and to you. ===============================================================================
