Hi everyone
This is my first post. I just joined. I love the Bible and have read it so
much that the binding has broken on two of the volumes and some of the Braille
is wearing. But despite this I can never remember verses or where they are
located. I looked at the memlink stuff but being totally blind I don't know
that it would work for me. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to
remember verses and their references? Thanks.
Maureen

Thank you for including me. I used to memorize scripture many years ago and
surprising to me I still retain most of what I have memorized. Lately, I have
had a desire to continue with the pleasure of memorization. Recently I heard of
a man who took time to memorize not just verses of the Bible but whole chapters
and books of the New Testament. Also the pastor of the Fifth Avenue
Presbyterian Church in NYC has a bookmark with 50 passages of scripture that he
recommends his people to commit to memory.
So I am glad to return to the joy of learning scripture.

Subject: Looking for verses ....
From: Louise Oosthuizen
Hello,
At church (Reformed Baptist--Croydon--South Africa).
Been listening to a series of "The Christian Mind" by Pastor Randy Pike.
Compelling. His advise is the only way to control your mind is to follow Jesus'
example of what he went through in the wilderness.
Scripture was His weapon against Satan.
Today that is the only sure way to fight these thoughts that come into our mind.
Everything we do did come into our head via our mind.
Now to ward off all these evel thoughts -- you have to have scripture ready.
Please help me with a list to ward of:
Fear: financial
job,
home,
future
inferiority
many more fears we have to combat.
Enough for now. I want to put together a list of these verses to combat Satan
and carry it around with me.
Thanks for all the encouraging e-mails from everyone.
Greetings,
Louise.

Subject: Invitation to try freeware InVerse Scripture Memorization
From: Lynn Allan
Hi,
My name is Lynn Allan. I've been reading these posts for several years, but
have rarely posted anything. I wanted to invite you to download and evaluate
InVerse, a freeware program for assisting memorization of Scripture verses.
Compared to Stephen's Scripture Memory System 3.2.43, InVerse has far fewer
features, but may be of interest for the following reasons:
- It is a tiny download, only about 80k. It takes much less than a minute to
download, even with a slow 28.8 POTS modem. The installation is very simple.
- The minimal number of features has the advantage of simplifying the user
interface a great deal. I don't have the most objective perspective, obviously,
but InVerse is intuitive.
- There is an extensive tutorial and user guide included in the download. The
tutorial assumes a relatively inexperienced user, and provides a mouse-click by
mouse-click walk-through of the features of InVerse. There are about 70+ steps
described in detail.
- The 'audience' for InVerse is people who want to memorize a significant number
of passages. At some point, it can become difficult to organize the mastered
passages while tackling new passages. There are recitation frequency categories
for 'Daily', 'Weekly', and 'Monthly'.
- The 'tutorial' version comes preloaded with 18 passages. Each passage has
'context' to go along with the verses to be memorized. The 'advanced' version
comes with 300+ preloaded passages with 2000+ verses.
The program is freely available at http://www.bibleinverse.org. An alternative
is that I have established a Yahoo e-group at
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/InVerse that you may want to consider. With this
option, there is a mildly intrusive registration requirement to join a yahoo
e-group, but I have found the privacy to be fine. Our church has used it for
years to link community groups.
Thanks to Stephen for all his efforts to make this list available.
For His glory and honor,
Lynn Allan
