Hi David,
It has been a while since you wrote this and I don't know if anyone else
responded, but I think I might be able to help.

It is obvious you have read a Tony Buzan book, which I also love.

For outlines I often use the Companion Bible, which contains detailed outlines
of every book of the bible. I'm working on digitising them all to eventually
make a mindmap of the entire scripture. It will obviously NOT fit on any sheet
of paper, but I'm working on software to view (parts of) these maps. It might
take a few years before this software is ready to share as freeware. I'll let
the list know when it is finished.

Meanwhile, here is the outline of Proverbs you asked for:

Subject: Hi, I'm glad to be a part of the group
From: Philip Walker

Hello. My name is Phil Walker. I am excited to be a part of a group of people
encouraging each other to memorize Scripture. I have been memorizing now for 13
years (some years better than others) ever since the Christian faith became a
real part of my personal life.

One thing I started this past year was a Bible Memory Camp, a week in the summer
where we used Scripture Songs and World-class actors who have memorized books of
the Bible to help others (we had all ages, but mostly children age 8-13)
memorize, apply and present Scripture. It was a blast, and this summer we are
hoping to add a second week in a different location. One dream of mine is to one
day see Bible Memory Camps spring up throughout the US and beyond. Do any of
you know of other Bible Memory Camps in your area?

Because of the Bible Memory Camp, and for personal benefit and growth, I am
always looking for resources, esp. people who write Scripture songs or present
Scripture in a dramatic fashion. I would love to hear what Scripture Memory has
meant for you.

Hello Siblings,

How many of us are there??? Can't we hang out once a week/month in a chat room
and talk about techniques? Crosswalk.com has several. What does everyone think?

Hello My name is John and I am new to this message forum. I am a fairly new
Christian so I am really working on ways to memorize scripture. I just became a
Christian about 2 years ago. I have been so blessed since I became a Christian
with a good church. I am so motivated that I have joined a bible College and
working on getting my BA in Professional Christian Bible Studies. Any help any
of you could be would be welcomed in learning the scripture.

Thank you
John

What's the book by Tony Buzan mentioned below? Can you tell us more about it?
If it is a good one, how can we obtain a copy? (And just who IS Tony Buzan,
anyway?)

I would use the references as guides. For instance, in my memory system, 20:12
is Robin Hood telling the time. (I won't explain why!) I would then try to
picture a scene involving that image and something from the proverb itself.

Hope that helps?

Tony Buzan is THE memory teacher. He invented Mind Maps and he wrote several
good books about the use of your memory, learning and speed reading. AFAIK he is
not a born-again christian, but unlike other secular writers about usage of
memory, I haven't found any occult thoughts in one of his books. The two most
relevant are:

Use your head. - London : British Broadcasting Corporation, 1995 and Use your
memory. - Rev. ed. - London : BBC Books, 1995

Is this it?? Here's what I found via Google:

The Mind Map Book: How to Use Radiant Thinking to Maximize Your Brain's Untapped
Potential By Tony Buzan and Barry Buzan Reviewed by Greg Dixon

Published by E P Dutton, September 1, 1994, ISBN: 0452273226

Tony and Barry Buzan have explored a powerful way of expressing thoughts called
Mind Mapping. The basic technique is to combine lines, text, and images to
represent related ideas and concepts. The Mind Map Book presents detailed
descriptions of how to use a wide range of Mind Mapping techniques to a myriad
of uses. Some applications of Mind Mapping include: Making Choices, Organizing
Your Own Ideas, Organizing Other Peoples Ideas, Memory, Creative Thinking, The
Group Mind Map, Self-Analysis, Problem-Solving, The Mind Map Diary, Family Study
and Story Telling, Educational Thinking, Teaching, The Master Mind Map, Business
and Professional Meetings, Presentations, ...

My Brother in Christ,

I am so honored to be able to write to you.

Be encouraged in the Lord. Memorizing His precious Word is so wonderful. I
started memorizing Scripture when I was 2 years old in Jesus. I have known him
as Savior for over 30 years now. He comforts us; He strengthens us; He uses us
to minister to others through His powerful living Word!

Truly He has equipped us with everything we need. He is the Living Word, Word
of Life. As you continue memorizing His Word (hiding this Treasure) you will
grow in your relationship and deepen the intimacy with our Lord.

God bless you and your family....
In the Love of Jesus Christ,

Mrs. Marilyn Saxon

As far as I know www.mind-map.com is the website of 'the' Tony Buzan but I
should say that, although I started this chain with a reference to mind mapping,
I've not actually read Tony Buzan. I'm just a bit of software tool junkie and
have found mind mapping applications helpful in organizing my thoughts.

The leading mind mapping tool on the market is MindManager which can be found at
www.mindjet.com. It's a little pricey. Personally, I've found it worth the
price but I wouldn't recommend it for everybody in the group as I've used it
primarily for purposes other than Scripture memory. They do offer a free trial
version.

Other similar tools are MindMapper and Ygnius (now re-branded as MindGenius).

By far the most useful tool I've found for memory work (and hence, Scripture
memory) is Supermemo. It's got a painful learning curve but it's really a very
powerful way to keep large amounts of Scripture accessible in long term memory.
