Hi everyone,

It is very encouraging to find out that there is actually a list on the web
on memorising the word.I have been reminded of the vital need to memorise
and meditate on the word recently,many years after starting on the
navigators packs.

Some one made the comment that memorising the topic and verse creates the
situation where the mind is conditioned such that the topic and verse has
to
be repeated before the verse can be recalled.This convinced me of the
advantages,in the long run,of memorising chapters of the bible instead.

As I see it,there are two approaches.The vertical and the horizontal.From
the postings,I perceive that most use the former,where a chapter is
memorised word perfect before going to the next.The alternative is to start
with memorising the sections ,then the books of the bible,understanding the
main themes of each book , then each chapter.Once that is accomplished, one
can then proceed to memorise the detailed ideas of each chapter expressing
them in words as close to our chosen version as possible.

The advantage of this method,which I intend to adopt,is that it is more
realistic and achievable and enables a more balanced view of the whole
bible.Has anyone tried this approach?

I read somewhere that professors in Ethiopia have to memorise the entire
bible to qualify for the job.It would be interesting to find out how they
did it!

Also,has anyone tried the supermemo software?It sets the frequency of
review
,based on our self appraised performance,to optimise our time on task.The
content to be memorised is programmed by the user, who may decide to share
it on the supermemo website,either for free or for a fee or produce a
licenced CD Rom.So far there has been no programme for memorising the
bible.Perhaps some one would like to consider it ?

Thank you for your mail.My Benjamin I am living west Africa contry of
Togo.I
have memorizing scripture for the past ten years.I am doing good in the
Lord.I am learning the Roman 12 and hope by the end this month I will
finished it.If you have any encouragement for me I will appreciate it alot.

HELLO,
STUDYING THE WORD OF GOD HAS BECOME AN URGENT PRIORITY IN MY LIFE.  I AM
HUNGRY FOR THE WORD TO TAKE PERMANENCY IN MY THOUGHT LIFE.  I AM A BLIND
PERSON AND THE ONLY WAY FOR ME TO GAIN MORE OF THE WORD IS TO MEMORIZE
IT.  I LISTEN TO THE BIBLE ON TAPE AND READ IT ON LINE AND EVEN TRY TO KEEP
MANY OF THE VERSES IN MY MEMORY BANK, BUT THEY DO NOT SEEM TO BE STAYING
FOR LONG.  I CAN REPEAT THE VERSES IF I HEAR SOMEONE ELSE SAYING THEM, BUT
IT IS DIFFICULT TO RECALL THEM ON MY OWN.  I KNOW THAT I AM MISSING A LOT
WHEN I CANNOT RECALL THE WORD OF GOD READILY.  IT IS MOST IMPORTANT TO ME
AT THE TIME OF WITNESSING WHEN I NEED TO SHARE THE WORD WITH THE PERSON I
AM WITNESSING TO AND CANNOT RECALL THE CORRECT VERSE AT THAT MOMENT.

PLEASE HELP ME WITH YOUR ADVICE AS TO HOW I CAN ACHIEVE THIS GOAL WHICH IS
MOST IMPERATIVE TO ME IN MY SPIRITUAL GROWTH.
