Subject: Greetings from Irian Jaya!
From: "Roger E. Doriot"

Hi, Vikki! Glad to see you on the Scripture memory list! We have been
missionaries here in Irian Jaya for many years, working in a tribal group
of former cannibals, and Scripture memorization has been such a help to us
in so many ways. I work in Bible translation among other things.

I have been interested in promoting Scripture memorization more also, and
was so glad to find this list recently. My wife and I have both used a plan
I have developed that has helped us learn a lot of verses, and we are glad
to share that with interested people, and to encourage, help, and pray for
others who are interested in Scripture memorization.

Well, no time for more at the moment, but you can check our web page for
more info if you'd like. God bless you richly!

Vikki,

Praise God for your determination to learn about His word and establish
it in your heart. By having that love of God's Word that is the most
important aspect of memorizing the Word. It helps to have a prayer
partner. Someone in your Church, Sunday School or family that will
work with you as you memorize the word. There are a number of ways
to work on this process. Pray that God will direct you to the right
partner. Even if the other person will just take the time to listen
to you as you work on your verses. Memorize the Word by the Navigators
is something you can get at a local Christian Book store or you can get
the course through Moody Bible Institute. You might be able to get a
group together. Talk to your pastor or minister of education. If they
can't help you let me know and I'll try to assist you.

Yours in Christ,

Matt Bradshaw

From: "Peter Reynolds"

Hi!

Several people have asked for a verse selection for memorisation of one or
two verses at a time on important topics. I would be happy to host that on
my web page and weekly reminder list and I think Stephen would be very
happy
to set up an email list too.

Now who is going to take the initiative and draw up a list of verses?

Also I am looking for another psalm for Group A to start 26 September (a
fortnight from now). Something other than the two best-known psalms, Psalm
23 and Psalm 100, please!

help.

Anyone who would like to suggest some verses could email me.

I like that suggestion. How do we start? Should people respond to you by
listing other memory verses about obedience? That sounds like a good way
to
begin. I will start with Duet. 11:26-28... I'll also look for others on
this topic. Thanks.

Let's start with scriptures on Obedience.

See today I am letting you chose a blessing or a curse. You will be
blessed if you obey the commands of the Lord your God that I am giving
you today. But you will be cursed if you disobey the commands of the Lord

There are thousands of ways to go on this of course. So,
I'll just throw mine in here. 30 years of my life went
into the selection. I come from and evangelical
background.

The verses (48 topics, 700 verses, covering every OT
book, every chapter of Proverbs and chapter of the NT)
are listed at http://www.memlok.com/verses.html
Topics are at http://www.memlok.com/topics.html

They are already printed on perforated business cards
(with a word picture to get you started and the
Scripture on the back) or are in an automatic review
system in the computer version which prints unlimited
copies of the cards for your family use (also prints
coloring pages).

Hi! On the line of memory groups - I thought I read a post a while back
from a Bible quiz coach who was thinking about doing memorizing in the
books that the kids are doing in quizzing. And maybe encouraging each
other in memorizing and coaching.
I would be interested if there is anyone like that out there.

Well if there is much discussion about this next week I won't be on my

animals at it.
Have a great day!

Subject: Back in the word
From: Grant Lawson

Thanks for keeping the site going. I joined a while back but slacked
off. I will be working on Psalm 139 with group A. I still have no
"plan" on how to best memorize. So I am open to quick suggestions or a
basic plan. Thanks again.

Thank-you Kathy Woodall

I am working on memory from Galations with my quizzing group and would be
glad to communicate with other quizzing coaches on their progress, as well
as tips for motivating the kids.

You're not by any chance doing IFCA Bible quizzing are you? I'm coaching a
quiz team myself, working in Galatians, Titus, and Philippians. I'd love
to
hear your input.
