Welcome to the Scripture Memory Challenge web site.  I have been writing about the value of scripture memorization for the last couple of years, but now I want to start something which makes a difference.   What is my goal?  What is it that I wish to see?  It is simply this: That the Church, all over the world, would be captivated by a desire to start memorizing God's word, and not only this, but that all Christians would take God's word to heart and determine to live in complete obedience to it.

The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul. The statutes of the LORD are trustworthy, making wise the simple.  The precepts of the LORD are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the LORD are radiant, giving light to the eyes.  The fear of the LORD is pure, enduring forever. The ordinances of the LORD are sure and altogether righteous. They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold; they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the comb.  By them is your servant warned; in keeping them there is great reward.

  Psalm 19:7-11

I run in the path of your commands, for you have set my heart free.
Psalms 119:32

What is the Scripture Memory Challenge?

I would like to present the following challenge to all who know the Lord Jesus Christ.  It is called the Scripture Memory Challenge. (Click here for a printable copy)

About the Scripture Memory Challenge.

Quick Summary of all Three Steps.

Step 1: Why Memorize Scripture?
Step 2: Why Teach Others to Memorize Scripture?
Step 3: The Power of Multiplication and Christian Discipleship.

How do I get involved in the Scripture Memory Challenge?

(1) Start Memorizing Scripture yourself.

If you have never memorized scripture before, then the first thing is to just start. The following on-line book is full of  ideas which should be helpful to the beginner as well as those who have been memorizing for some time.  I have an extensive list of links to other scripture memory sites which give many other ideas.

Chapter 1 - The Meaning of Christian Discipleship
Chapter 2 - A successful scripture memory program
Chapter 3 - What things can hold us back?
Chapter 4 - Memorization - Getting Started
Chapter 5 - Memorization - Basics
Chapter 6 - Memorization - Learning Long Passages
Chapter 7 - Conclusion

Tricks and ideas given to me by others.

Work sheets used in this book.
(2) Teach Others to do the same.

(3) Let me know how you are doing.

Send me an email so I can hear what you think and keep a count of the number of people involved.

(4) Never give up.

Memorizing more than a few verses is a lot of work and requires a disciplined mind and attitude.  Teaching others to follow through on scripture memorization takes commitment.  But the reward is great.  The only real mistake that you can make is to quit.  Never give up.

Pray that God would create a  hunger among all people for His Word.

I will bow down toward your holy temple
and will praise your name for your love and your faithfulness,
for you have exalted above all things your name and your word.
Psalm 138:2
